The majority of Russians think that Russia can be attacked as on June 22, 1941

63 years ago fascist Germany attacked the Soviet Union, the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 started.
Even today many Russians believe that Russia can be attacked again.

The great patriotic War influenced the lives of almost all Russian citizens, demonstrated the public opinion survey conducted by Independent Research Center ROMIR in 2003.
1,500 Russian citizens aged from 18 and older were surveyed. 5 percent of the respondents were fighting in the Great Patriotic War of 1941 – 1945.  55 percent have relatives fighting and 27 percent have family members who died in that war. Only 13 percent of the respondents said that their relatives were not participating in the Great Patriotic War, while 26 percent of those surveyed live with their senior family members-veterans of the war.

There was a question, “Do you think if there is a threat of military attack on Russia?” According to the research, more than half of Russians (55%) believe that such a threat exists to some extent. 40% of the respondents disagree with this. 5% of the survey participants had no definite answer to the question.
