According to the latest information released by the administration of Chechnya's Nadterechnaya district, the terrorist act in Znamenskoye killed 30 and injured more than 70 people.
According to the district's administration head Sultan Akhmetkhanov, who spoke to RIA Novosti by telephone, the number of victims is likely to grow as rescue teams keep searching among the debris of the blown-up buildings, where they might find more people.
A heavy KamAZ truck burst into Znamenskoye in the morning and entered the territory adjacent to various administrative buildings by slamming through the closed barrier. Almost immediately there was a powerful explosion, which left a pit 2 meters deep and 16 meters in diameter. The blast completely destroyed 8 dwelling houses and badly damaged the building housing the Federal Security Service office of the Nadterechnaya district and the district administration.
The site of the explosion is being examined by Emergencies Ministry rescuers, prosecutor's office employees and law enforcers.
