A school graduate committed suicide in Moscow after he had failed the Unified State Examination. The young man jumped out of the window of his apartment on Wednesday night in the north of the capital. A similar tragedy occurred in the Voronezh region several days ago, where a school leaver committed suicide over his inability to cope with stress before the examination.
The tragic incident in Moscow took place on Pulkovskaya Street, 4.
“A student of a Moscow school jumped out of the window from the seventh storey and was killed instantly. The 16-year-old young man previously failed the Unified State Examination,” a source at Moscow’s law-enforcement agencies told RIA Novosti.
In the Voronezh region, a 18-year-old man named as Aleksey Shmakov could not cope with stress on the threshold of the Unified State Examination on the Russian language. He was found hanged in his room.
“The time of school exams has always been connected with psychological tensions among students. This tension may often trench upon suicide ,” officials said . “Parents should not frighten their children with exams but help them create a favorable psychological background during the time of final examinations. When parents tell their kids – if you fail, I’ll kill you – they make children take it seriously,” a psychologist said.
