A militant killed in Grozny - 30 November, 2002

Last Friday one militant was killed in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny.

According to the information provided by the regional operative headquarters in charge of the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus, in the territory of the 36th sector of the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny militia officers found Magomed Akhmadov, born in 1975, a member of illegal armed formation who was on a federal search list for a number of committed crimes. During his apprehension Akhmadov put up active armed resistance to militia officers. In the course of the armed clash Akhmadov was killed. Militia officers seized a Makarov pistol and 9mm cartridges to it.

Preliminary investigation established that Akhmadov in the composition of a bandit group participated in armed robbery of the representative office of the "International Red Cross" in the settlement of Pervomaiskoye. In the composition of another bandit group he also took part in attacks on transport vehicles in the Grozny district during 1995.

Measures are being taken to establish his involvement in other earlier committed crimes.
