A driver ran over three schoolchildren as he was trying to drive around a dog on the road. One child died in the accident, which took place in the Moscow region.
The accident took place on Saturday morning, September 26, a press service for the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in the Moscow region told Interfax news agency.
“The man was driving his Mazda when he suddenly saw a dog running across the road. He slammed on the brakes and could not steer afterwards. As a result, the car swerved into ongoing traffic,” a police officer told the agency.
The car ran over three children of a local priest. The children were on their way to school. One boy died of serious injuries immediately. The girl and another boy suffered various injuries in the accident,” the officer said.
The driver had his own child in the car – the man was taking him to school. The driver was sober, forensic experts said.
