Police arrests managing director of Samsung Electronics

Police reports, the managing director for Samsung Electronics' operation in Thailand was arrested Friday in Bangkok.

Police Lt. Col. Chumphon Phumphuang said that Park Kwang-kee, managing director of Thai Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., was arrest on a Bangkok street after a warrant was issued for him, and turned over to the custody of the department's economic crimes division.

A woman who called The Associated Press and claimed to represent the Thai company TWZ Corp., a distributor of Samsung mobiles phones, said it was one of 20 companies who filed complaints with police after Park's company failed to pay money owed them.

Her account could not immediately be confirmed, and police released no other details. Park also could not be reached for comment.
