The Carlyle Group, a global private equity investment firm, has conducted a transaction with Booz Allen Hamilton to acquire a majority stake of the latter in government business.
One of the oldest management consulting firms in the world is going to sell the stake for $2.54 billion, thus forming a stand-alone company for its commercial business.
The deal requires now a number of approvals.
Booz Allen's notable intellectual contributions include the HBS-honored OrgDNA framework, the PERT management technique, and the product lifecycle theory. Since 1995, the firm also publishes "strategy+business", a magazine for business executives.
The Carlyle Group has more than $81.1 billion of equity capital under management. The firm operates four fund families, focusing on leveraged buyouts, venture & growth capital, real estate and leveraged finance investments.
