Leonid Reiman has nothing to do with shady tranactions, prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt says

Prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt denies the information provided by German journalists about Leonid Reiman, Russian Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, who is said to be involved in Siemens case.

“We are investigating the money laundering case. The money was provided by illegal privatization of telecommunication assets in Russia. However neither Leonid Reiman nor Siemens are involved in this laundering case,”- says Moeller Scheu, spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt.

Mass media have finally been led astray by German investigation concerning the sphere of communication and information technologies in Russia. The German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung published an article about some new details in Siemens corruption case.

The newspaper said that Siemens officials were giving bribes to Russian high-ranking communication officials to make Russian mobile operators buy only Siemens products and equipment. Leonid Reiman was also mentioned in this article , Pravda.ru reports.

However public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt said that the information given in the article is not true to fact.

“We are investigating the money laundering case. The money was provided by illegal privatization of telecommunication assets in Russia. However neither Leonid Reiman nor Siemens are involved in this laundering case,”- says Moeller Scheu, spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt.

Meanwhile Prosecutor’s office in Munich refused to comment the investigation of Siemens’s business in Russia, expert.ru reports.

Anton Winkler, a spokesman for the Munich prosecution office said that “a number of companies and people are involved in the investigation”. However no further details can be unveiled for the sake of investigation.

The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested Michael Calvey, the founder of Baring Vostok investment fund, on allegations of embezzling 2.5 billion rubles from Vostochny Bank. Calvey will be held in custody until April 13
