Given the recent revelations of Saddam's personal bodyguard about underground chemical weapon sites and the discovery of unfilled chemical artillery warheads I think the US did "put up" Iraq will be transformed into a member of the civilized world once Saddam is gone.
One hopes Russia will realize this portion of the global Islamic mess has to be dealt with sooner and not later and assist the USA. Politics need to be set aside so that civilized nations can rid the world of barbaric radical Islamists.
The US is much more sympathetic toward Russia in her dealings in Chechnya since 9/11.
