Steve Kimball: Beginning of the Third Cultural Purge?

At 10:00 AM Eastern Standard Time on 10 May, 2002, Confederate Memorial Day, approximately 150 Southerners gathered around a Confederate war memorial in the village square in Barnwell, South Carolina, U.S.A. They had come to honor their ancestors killed in the fight for freedom, by reading aloud their names and placing a Confederate battle flag on the memorial. Over 200 troops were massed around these Southerners, on the sidewalks, on porches, in windows, and on rooftops. These troops, wearing helmets and bullet proof vests, were armed with automatic weapons and appeared excited as their unseen commander watched for any excuse to open fire. These people were forced to leave without placing their flag in memory of their war dead; but at least this time they were allowed to leave with their lives. This incident was not reported in any newspaper, nor covered on any news broadcast. The blackout was complete. Steve Kimball
