The seven secrets to a long life are right here: keep a slender physique, keep away from cigarettes, include exercise in the routine, eat a healthy diet, keep your cholesterol under control, and keep your blood sugar and blood pressure in check.
A recent research has found that people above the age of 50 who follow this routine have a chance of adding another 40 years to their life. They can be free from stroke and heart disease, the two most common killers says Dr. Clyde Yancy, president of the American Heart Association.
The advice was published by the heart association in the journal Circulation. An online quiz is also being introduced by the group to help people measure how close they are to the ideal.
Dr. Donald M. Lloyd-Jones, a cardiologist who was the lead author of the statement said, “These seven factors - if you can keep them ideal or control them - end up being the fountain of youth for your heart. You live longer, you live healthier longer, you have much better quality of life in older age, require less medication, less medical care.”
The quiz is being recommended by the doctors as a good way for people to get a handle on how they’re doing especially because people usually think of themselves to be better than they actually are.
