Dismantling of First Checkpoint Started in Grozny

Saturday has seen the beginning of the first checkpoint dismantling in the centre of Grozny.

Checkpoint 8 located on the crossroad of Bogdan Khmelnitsky and Mayakovsky streets, on the way to the Severny airport, was liquidated, the Chechen military commandant's office has reported.

The plan to liquidate excessive checkpoints has already been made and approved by the police, Chechen military commandant, Lieutenant General Yevgeni Abrashin, said in his interview with RIA Novosti. A total of eight checkpoints will be dismantled in Grozny within a fortnight, he said.
