Zelimkhan Kadyrov, son of slain Chechnya leader, found dead at home

Zelimkhan Kadyrov, 29, eldest son of the recently assassinated president of Chechnya Akhmad Kadyrov was found dead Monday evening at home in the village of Tsentoro, Vesti reported, citing information from Chechnya's Health Ministry.

The cause of death was listed as heart disease. 'Also contributing to the death were the serious injuries [Zelimkhan Kadyrov] suffered in an auto accident early this year in Chechnya,' Rudnik Dudayev, secretary of the Chechnya National Security Council, was quoted as saying. Dudayev said Zelimkhan Kadyrov was treated for the accident injuries in Moscow.

According to sources close to the Kadyrov family, Zelimkhan suffered his first heart attack on the day of his father's murder.

Zelimkhan Kadyrov had been part of the presidential security force headed by his younger brother, Ramzan. The latter is now first deputy prime minister of Chechnya.

Zelimkhan Kadyrov is to be buried today, beside his father, in Tsentoro.
