Explosion in Turkey - one person dead¤

An explosion outside a state electric company office near Istanbul killed one person.

The blast occurred in the industrial city of Bursa, south of Istanbul.

Bursa Police Chief Huseyin Capkin did not comment on whether the man killed was carrying explosives. The explosion ripped the victim's leg off.

"A man whose leg was blown off in the explosion was killed," Capkin told the news agency. "Right now, the situation hasn't become clear."

Capkin said police had set up a security ring around the area and were investing the explosion.

Meanwhile, in Turkey's southeastern province of Hakkari, an explosion in the basement of an office complex caused damage and blew out windows, but did not lead to injuries. The explosion is thought to have been caused by a sound bomb, Anatolia reported, but the intention wasn't clear.

Kurdish, leftist and Islamic groups are active in Turkey, and have been responsible for past bombing attacks, the AP reports.
