A car bomb exploded in a Christian area of &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/world/2002/01/10/25178.html ' target=_blank>Beirut Thursday, killing a prominent journalist known for his opposition to Syria's involvement in Lebanon.
The journalist, identified as Samir Kassir, wrote for the Lebanese daily newspaper An Nahar -- a publication often critical of Syria. An unidentified woman was wounded in the blast, officials said.
Speaking to CNN in Atlanta, Kassir's wife -- Al-Arabiya talk show host Gisele Khoury -- said she is requesting an immediate international investigation and full French government engagement because her husband held dual Lebanese and French citizenship, informs CNN News.
