A U.S. soldier was shot dead in the city of Iskandariyah in central Iraq, the military said Friday.
A statement said the death occurred on Wednesday during combat operations near the city located 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Baghdad. The soldier, who was not identified, was assigned to the 155th Brigade Combat Team, II Marine Expeditionary Force, the AP informs.
