Poroshenko: Ukrainian military cease fire in Donbass permanently

The press-service of the Ukrainian President announced that the Ukrainian army ends all combat actions in the Donbass region on a permanent basis, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of Poroshenko. Earlier, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, discussed initial steps to end bloodshed in eastern Ukraine.

Representatives of militia forces commented the statement from Poroshenko's press service, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the head of the political department of international information service of the Defense Ministry of the People's Republic of Donetsk, Vladislav Brig.

According to him, the participants of resistance doubt that all Ukrainian units involved in the military operation, will cease fire. "Poroshenko does not control punitive battalions. One may not say for sure that they will submit to his decision," said the militia representative.

Brig said he was not aware of any agreements with the People's Republic regarding the matter. "The army of the People's Republic of Donetsk will not cease fire, at least, when the punitive troops remain in the Donbass region," he said.

On September 3, a telephone conversation was held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. They discussed initial steps to end bloodshed in eastern Ukraine. According to press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, the points of view of the two presidents largely coincide on possible ways to end the crisis, RIA Novosti reports.

"The discussion about the military and the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine was continued. The leaders exchanged views on what should be done on a priority basis to end bloodshed in the south-east of the country as soon as possible," Peskov told reporters.
