Small plane crash-lands at Guyana's airport

A small plane flown by a student pilot crash-landed Thursday at Guyana's main airport, an official said. No one was injured.

The student pilot and his instructor were coming in for a landing at Cheddi Jagan International Airport outside the capital when the accident occurred, said Chabinandan Ramphal, Guyana's civil aviation director.

The impact of the landing broke the single-engine Cessna's right wing and a wheel, Ramphal said. The plane skidded off the runway and into some grass. A rescue crew arrived on the scene but wasn't needed.

Ramphal said authorities were investigating to determine the cause of the accident.

The student pilot and his instructor weren't identified, AP reports.
