Suicide bomber detained in Chechnya

A terrorist, suicide bomber, has been detained in Chechnya, RIA Novosti was told on Tuesday at the regional operational staff for controlling anti-terror operation in the North Caucasus.

Shortly before, the police detained a car, driven by a Chechen inhabitant, at the roadblock. The Kalashnikov machine-gun and a powerful home-made explosive device were found in the car. In addition, two 100-dollar notes, medicines and a notebook with names and plates of cars belonging to the inhabitants of one of Chechen settlements who take an active part in establishing peaceful life in the republic were found when the detained was searched.

During the first interrogations, the detained admitted that he had planned to stage an act of terror using himself as a "live bomb".

The staff members did not name the district where the terrorist was detained and explained this by the operational-investigation measures being taken there. At the same time, it was noted that the detainee began giving evidence concerning those who ordered this act of terror.
