Chechen terrorists sustain more losses

Two terrorists were killed and five detained in a special operation in Argun, 30 km east of Grozny.

The shoot-out took place the morning before, during pinpoint inspections held by the criminal investigation department of the Interior Ministry, the Interior Troops and special task forces of the FSB department for Chechnya. Unidentified persons shot at the FSB troops and the area was immediately sealed.

"We offered them to lay down weapons but the bandits replied with more shooting. We returned fire," said a source. Two bandits, who turned out to be local residents, were killed and five bandits were detained. The federal forces are checking on their possible involvement in other crimes. According to the Interior Ministry, two Makarov handguns, five hand grenades and other munitions were confiscated at the site.
