Member of bandit group detained in Chechnya

A member of the criminal investigation department was wounded when detaining a gunman in Chechnya.

RIA Novosti learned on Friday from the Interior Affairs department for Chechnya that the incident had taken place on the previous evening in the Nadterechny district. In the course of operational measures carried out in the forest the police clashed with a member of a bandit formation. The gunman did not want to surrender and offered armed resistance to the police.

During the exchange of fire a policeman was wounded, and the bandit detained. He is currently undergoing checks on whether or not he was involved in grave crimes against representatives of federal forces and the peaceful population.
