The St. Petersburg criminal investigation department has rendered harmless 1,200 criminals on the eve of the city's 300th birthday, chief of the criminal investigation department of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region Vladislav Piotrovski told the press.
According to him, in the run-up to St. Petersburg's birthday his department has carried out 50 operative-search and local operations, exposing 629 very grave crimes, including 13 assassinations which reverberated among the public.
During the time, 39 murderous attacks have been exposed, 92 units of small arms, 3,225 pieces of ammunition and 5 kilograms of explosives seized.
