Bandit From Gelayev's Gang Detained In Chechnya

The Grozny police have successfully detained an active member of the Ruslan Gelayev gang, Russia's interior ministry provisional press centre in Khankala reported Saturday. The very first interrogation showed that this member of a paramilitary gang, whose name is kept secret for investigation reasons, took an active part in the attacks on the federal troops last March-May. During this period, the Argun Gorge saw violent clashes between the federal sub-divisions and Gelayev's gang. At the present time, this militant's involvement in the earlier committed crimes and subversive acts is being probed into. Besides, the press centre reported that the police had detained another four bandits of Gelayev's gang in the Oktyabrsky district of Grozny on October 5.
