Cache with drugs found on Tajik-Afghan border

The Russian border guards have found a cache with drugs on the Tajik-Afghan border. As the press service of the Federal Frontier Service reports, the border guards removed 24 bags with white substance (presumably, heroin) from the cache. The drugs have been taken to the frontier post and investigation has been launched.

According to reports of the Russian Frontier Service, since the commencement of the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistsan, which has resulted in the change of the regime in the country, the drug flow has not decreased, as was expected. Moreover, there is the steady trend towards the increase of the general volume of drug trafficking and the share of heroin considered to be a heavy drug.

Last year the amount of heroin in the total volume of drug trafficking exceeded 50 per cent on the Tajik-Afghan border. In the estimate of experts, this year the volume of heroin may reach 60-70 per cent of total drug trafficking.
