Four new forest fires were registered in the Russian Far East on Monday.
As RIA Novosti was told in the controller service of the Far-Eastern aviation protection of forests, during the past weekend forest fires in the Maritime Territory were extinguished (they numbered seven on Friday). As the controller service officials said, the fire-hazardous situation has been normalised in the region as a whole. The still existing hotbeds of fire are small, are under control, and there is no danger of their extension.
All in all, 3,622 forest fires emerged in the Far East of Russia since the beginning of the fire-hazardous period, the controller service officials noted. The total area hit by fire is 996,292 hectares.
