Kremlin's Contacts With Chechen Separatists Benefit Only Separatists

Contacts between the federal centre and representatives of the so-called president of the independent republic of Ichkeria, Aslan Maskhadov, "benefit only the Chechen separatists," said Adlan Magomadov, representative of the Chechen Republic in the Russian presidential administration at a press conference on Thursday. According to Mr. Magomadov, "information on future contacts help replenish terrorist ranks that start spreading rumours that power in Chechnya will soon go to leaders of illegal armed militant groups."
