The Moscow police have arrested the man, who went on a bloody massacre in the streets of the Russian capital. As many as ten people suffered from the perpetrator's actions. Most likely, the criminal is either a mentally unbalanced individuals or a drug addict, police officers said.
"The number of the people who suffered from the perpetrator in Korneichuk Street may vary from eight to 12 people," officials said.
The attacker has been identified. He is Aleksei Abuzov, born in 1984, a resident of the town of Shatura, a town in the Moscow region, Interfax reports. The criminal was attacking passers-by in the area of Severnoye Medvedkovo.
The attacker stabbed one woman to death. He stabbed her in the neck; the woman died at hospital without regaining consciousness, Life News reports. Her 83-year-old husband suffered a stab wound in the chest.
"All the people, who suffered from the attacker, received terrible wounds. The wounds are very deep. The attacker was most likely armed with a hatchet or a hunting knife. If he had a common knife, people would only suffer from not very deep stab wounds taking into consideration the fact that it's cold now, and people wear thick overcoats," a medical specialist said.
On December 9, at about 1:30 p.m., a knife-wielding young man began to sporadically stab the visitors of a drug store in building No. 37, Korneichuk Street. Afterwards, he dashed outside ad continued attacking the passers-by. The police arrested him in about 15 minutes, BaltInfo said.
"The suspect was absolutely inadequate. He can probably be a drug addict, but we need to investigate that," officials said.
Four wounded women have been taken to Clinical Hospital No. 20. One of them, named only as Potekhina, died. Another patient lost a lot of blood and stays in a critical condition.
A five-year-old boy, named as Dima A., witnessed the attack near the drug store. He suffered a nervous breakdown.
