Chechnya's Moscow representation confirmed Monday that Chechen administration head Akhmad Kadyrov had signed a decree appointing Anatoly Popov the republic's Prime Minister.
Mr Popov had earlier headed the federal Directorate for Revival of Chechnya's Economy and Welfare System.
Mr Popov's appointment had been agreed with Viktor Kazantsev, the Russian president's envoy to the Southern Federal District, emphasised the representative office.
