Mexican police investigating link between man's kidnapping and deaths of his spouse and sons

Police is investigating whether the deaths of Ana Marcia Ochoa-Fernandez and her two sons are linked to the reported kidnapping in Mexico of her husband two years ago.

The bodies of Ochoa-Fernandez and her sons, Jose Jr., 10, and Angel, 3 were found Tuesday in their home in Bonita in southeast San Diego, according to neighbors.

The woman's husband, who neighbors identified as Jose Fernandez, was kidnapped in Tijuana, Mexico, about two years ago and has never been found.

The day before he was kidnapped, he had been awarded $20 million (Ђ16.17 million) in a civil judgment in a Tijuana court, said San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Tom Bennett.

Neighbors said Ochoa-Fernandez lived in fear for her life. Sheriff's deputies had responded to the home twice in the past two years after the woman said she heard noises or saw suspicious people, but they did not find anything out of the ordinary, Bennett said.

"There was a high level of paranoia on the part of the woman who lived in the home," Bennett said.

Sheriff's deputies went to Ochoa-Fernandez's home on Tuesday after her daughter expressed concerns that she had not heard from her mother for at least a week. There were no signs of forced entry and no indication how the victims died, although there was blood on the bodies, Bennett said. The family had been dead several days, the AP reports.
