Hot water turned off in Vladivostok

The Vladivostok department of the Ministry for Emergency Situations has stopped supplying hot water to residential buildings and private enterprises. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this decision will not affect facilities such as nurseries and hospitals.

The decision came because the regional water supplier South Primorye has repeatedly and without warning cut the water supply to the city. The necessary water supply is about 315 thousand cubic metres a day) but the district headquarters of the Ministry for Emergency Situations told South Primorye to cut this to 280-250 thousand cubic metres.

Deputy Mayor Yuri Molochny said that the loss of hot water would allow the city to provide a more convenient supply of cold water. According to Mr Molochny, the city will survive the winter despite the fact that hot water is now limited, but only if the current supply of water is not restricted further.
