Explosion Resounded in Makhachkala

At 7.22 Moscow time on Monday an explosion resounded in the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala, when the Volga car of Deputy Minister of the Interior of Dagestan (a republic in the Northern Caucasus neighbouring on Chechnya) Major General Magomed Omarov was passing under a railway overbridge.

As the RIA Novosti correspondent was told by the law-enforcers on the scene of the incident, the driver was wounded and hospitalised. General Omarov was also taken to the hospital for medical examination.

Specialists say that an improvised explosive device went off and qualify the incident as an assassination attempt on a high-ranking official of the republic's Interior Ministry.
