Chechen militants attack interior ministry's convoy

One serviceman was killed, another five were wounded in a rebel attack on a convoy of the Russian Interior Ministry.

According to the regional staff of the anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus, the skirmish took place the other day in the nearby Kurchaloi district centre. A Ural truck transporting soldiers exploded on a radio-controlled land mine.

Later on, the attackers opened small arms and rocket launcher fire on the vehicle. As a result, one conscript was killed, another five were wounded.

An operation to find the attackers is in full swing. An investigation into the case has been launched.
