Trial of two men accused of terrorism resumed in Pyatigorsk

The trial of two inhabitants of the North Caucasian republic of Karachaevo-Cherkessia, accused of terrorism and illegal weapons keeping, was resumed in Pyatigorsk, the Stavropol region, on Monday. This was said at the permanent session of the Stavropol region court in Caucasian Mineralnye Vody. The accused are Arasul Khubiev and Khazret Bidzhiev. On Monday the court will continue reading the indictment. According to the investigation data, the two men were involved in terrorist acts on March 24, 2001, at a market in Mineralnye Vody, in Yessentuki (a city in the Stavropol region) and in the village of Adyge-Khabl in Karachaevo-Cherkessia. The explosions killed 24 and wounded more than 150 people. To conduct the acts of terror the criminals used cars filled with explosives.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
