A large-scale special operation in search of militants and arms is being carried out at the village of Chechen Aul in the Grozny district of Chechnya on Thursday, head of the district administration Shaid Zhamaldayev told RIA Novosti.
According to him, Chechen Aul is blocked by sub-units of the federal forces, the Kavkaz highway is blocked, and entry into and exit from the village are prohibited. The law-enforcement bodies are checking the citizens' passports. The individuals who cause suspicion get detained and taken to the military commandant's office where they undergo a computer check.
Zhamaldayev noted that taking part in the operation are representatives of the administration and officials of the prosecutor's office who follow the actions of the military. It is not known how long the operation will last. Such an operation in the neighbouring populated area of Mesker Yurt lasted more than three weeks and ended two days ago.
