Special Operation To Destroy Criminal Gang Conducted In Chechnya

A special operation to destroy a large gang, which engaged law-enforcement officers the other day, is in full swing near Argun, the provisional police press centre in Khankala (Eastern suburb of Grozny where the staff of the Joint Group of Force is located) was quoted as saying. Yesterday, police officers conducted an operation in and outside Argun to find and destroy illegal mini-oil refineries, which are a source of funding illegal armed formations. During the operation, police officers located a group of unidentified armed people. Policemen investigating the case believe that the group was guarding the refineries. Rebels opened fire on the police unit. As a result of the engagement, approximately ten fighters were killed. The operation is still continuing.
