A man with a baseball bat was arrested in the center of Moscow on Red Square, after the man attacked a police officer. At approximately 13:00, a law enforcement officer saw a man with a baseball bat in his hands near St. Basil's Cathedral. When the police officer approached the man to check the documents, the man hit the officer on his legs.
"The man was arrested. The police officer had to ask for medical assistance," officials said.
A day earlier, the Moscow police arrested a man, who smashed three icons at the Cathedral of the Annunciation, on Matrosskaya Tishina Street. The man damaged the icons with a brick. The eyewitnesses of the incident stopped the man and called the police. The attacker was a 41-year-old unemployed native of Moldova. He did not have a registration in Moscow and was staying in a state of alcoholic intoxication.
