Terrorist killed in Chechnya

A terrorist was killed in the district centre of Urus Martan of the Chechen Republic. Several units of the federal forces' hardware were blown up in that region the other day, an Ural automobile was exploded on a highway on Saturday, and the policemen who were moving in this motor vehicle were fired at from a militant ambush.

On Monday, an operational police group moved to the district to check the operational information about separatist actions. At a distance of two kilometres from check-point 209 on the Rostov-Baku highway, on a road leading to Grozny the operational group noticed an unknown individual who was planting a home-made explosive device. The militiamen tried to capture the criminal but the explosive device spontaneously went off during this attempt. The terrorist perished. No member of the operational group was hurt by the explosion.
