Hit man kills meat firm chief

The general director of the giant meat-processing combine Kolpin, Sergei Kuznetsov, was shot to death yesterday morning near Saint Petersburg. As learned by Rosbalt from the Saint Petersburg Internal Affairs Administration, the killing occurred at 10:50 local time on the grounds of an oncology center in the village of Pesochny, where Kuznetsov was undergoing treatment. The fatal shot rang out as he and his wife were walking on the center grounds. Kuznetsov died on the spot from a shot to the chest. Early information suggested that the shooting was done from a distance in that Kuznetsov's wife did not see the attacker. A team of militia and prosecutorial staff are investigating.

This is the third recent serious attack on business people in the meat industry.
