A man who reportedly jumped from a cruise ship about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Fort Lauderdale was found by Coast Guard crews early Friday, about eight hours after he went missing.
The man, who had been aboard the Carnival Cruise Lines' Carnival Glory was airlifted to hospital after being spotted by search crews, said Coast Guard Petty Officer Jennifer Johnson. His condition was not immediately known.
A witness had said the man ran through a cabin window and fell into the water, said Coast Guard Petty Officer Dana Warr, adding it was unclear if the window was open. The witness said the man was intoxicated, she said.
After the cruise ship alerted authorities at 12:45 a.m., it stayed in the area to assist with the search, Warr said, adding that the Glory and another cruise liner that also aided in the search have since left the area, reports AP.
Carnival spokesman Tim Gallagher confirmed the Coast Guard report, but said no additional details were immediately available.
The Glory operates out of Port Canaveral, east of Orlando, according to Carnival's Web site.

More than 5.8 million people voted for Nicholas Maduro at the presidential election in Venezuela. This is more than a quarter of registered voters. Why did those people vote for the man, who, as Western media write, took Venezuela to the brink of collapse?
It has long been understood that the West has been trying to subject Russian borders to total control. We have not seen such activity even during the Cold War
