More than 5,600 American citizens have been killed for the last 15 years by the U.S. police. Quite less people died under Islamist terrorists attacks mounted in the territory of the United States during this period.
A special interactive map of fatal encounters was created by Anand Katakam. It is to represent a so-called national database on killings committed by the police.
The guns remain the most widespread police tools, as the vast majority of the deaths are from gunshots. There are also cases of stab wounds, stun guns, asphyxiations, medical emergencies and vehicle crashes. Some citizens died because of "suicide by cop", that is after committing suicide by baiting a police officer into using deadly force.
The map covers only 35 % of police killings for the moment.
