A collision between two passenger trains in southern Belgium on Wednesday left between 30 and 40 people with light injuries, the police said, Belga news agency reported.
Two people had to be hospitalised, while others were treated at the scene in the town of Arlon near the border with Luxembourg.
The accident happened just outside the station when a train coming from Luxembourg crashed into a train headed for Luxembourg. There were between 150 and 180 people in the two trains, Expatica Belguim reports.
A passenger train from Luxembourg was on its way to Libramont entering Arlon station at about 6:10pm yesterday evening. At the same time, another train was leaving the station bound for Luxembourg when suddenly the two trains collided.
The train travelling from Luxembourg to Libramont was hit with no serious damage; however the other train was derailed. Fortunately no carriage overturned. Both trains were full of passengers as the incident occurred during rush hour just many cross-border workers were returning home, Station informs.
