Twin Blasts in Pakistani Refugee Camp Kill 41

Two suicide bombers dressed in burqas blew themselves up Saturday in a camp for refugees fleeing military offensives in northwestern Pakistan, killing 41 people and wounding 62, officials said.

The blasts occurred at a food distribution point, but there were conflicting reports whether the victims were lining up for food or being registered. The camp is sometimes used by foreign humanitarian groups, including the World Food Program, to deliver aid, The Associated Press reports.

Almost 350 people were present in the ration distribution camp at the time when two blasts hit the camp one after another. Relief activities have been started.

Emergency has been imposed in the nearby hospitals where the injured are being shifted. Condition of several injured is stated to be critical and number of casualties may increase. Police have cordoned off the area.

DSP Kohat Lal Farid Khatak told that the blasts were occurred in the registration centre where IDPs were getting ration. According to police, one blast was remote control while the other was suicide, A Pakistan News says.
