A group of gunmen was destroyed Wednesday during a raid near the Sugar-Loaf mountain in the Kodori gorge of Abkhazia, according to the Defense Ministry of Abkhazia (self-proclaimed republic on the Georgian territory). According to the data obtained by 4 PM local time, combing of the area had been completed, but minor dispersed gunmen groups that managed to break from the pocket were being pursued. These groups are moving towards the portion of the Kodori gorge controlled by Georgian authorities. Meanwhile, Wednesday morning a large group of Georgian and Chechen gunmen was detected 6 km away from the Russian-Abkhazian border near the Amtkel pass close to Karachay-Circassia (republic within the Russian Federation). Abkhazians employed aviation and land forces killing a lot of gunmen. According to Raul Khajimba, head of the Abkhazian security service, if gunmen's bases are found on the Abkhazian territory, measures will be taken to destroy them.
