Israeli settler who killed four Palestinians, wants the same to be done to Sharon

Israeli settler Asher Weisgan said that he had no regrets for shooting and killing four Palestinian laborers, including two he knew well, and added that he hopes that someone does the same to Ariel Sharon.

Weisgan on Wednesday shot four Palestinian laborers working in an aluminum factory in a West Bank settlement, including two workers he had just had lunch with.

"I'm not sorry for what I did," the Haaretz newspaper quoted Weisgan as saying before entering a courthouse outside of Tel Aviv. "I hope someone also kills Sharon."

Sharon on Wednesday branded the shooting an act of "Jewish terror" and said the shooting was "aimed against innocent Palestinians, out of twisted thinking, aimed at stopping the disengagement."

On Thursday, troops stormed two Gaza synagogues and began dragging out settlers and their supporters holed up inside, part of a massive evacuation that will end Israel's 38-year occupation of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli security officials have warned repeatedly that Israeli extremists might try to sabotage the Gaza pullout by attacking Arabs.

Earlier this month, a 19-year-old Israeli army deserter opposed to the pullout shot and killed four Arabs and wounded more than 20. An enraged mob beat the gunman to death.

On Wednesday, Weisgan shot two Palestinian laborers he was driving from an aluminum factory in the settlement of Shilo.

He then headed into the industrial zone where he killed two other workers.

A Palestinian laborer at the factory said he was shocked that Weisgan, who used to eat, drink and joke with Palestinians at the plant, would open fire on them. He said he was afraid to go back to work.

"He was very close to us. We used to drink coffee together and joke," Atef Radi was quoted as saying by The AP. "I was very surprised when I heard he killed his Arab colleagues."
