Us And Britain Close Their Missions In Bosnia Over Muslim Threats

A mission of the World Bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina /BAH/ in Sarajevo stated on Thursday that it was temporarily closing down for considerations of safety, because of threats from Muslims. On the day before the US and British embassies announced their closure, the reason being information about a "very serious threat for safety" on the part of the population. The US embassy and its consulate in Mostar and Banja-Luka are shut down for an indefinite period, as is the British consulate and cultural centre in Sarajevo. Although representatives of both embassies refused to give the details of these threats, a source close to the British diplomatic mission remarked that this step was occasioned "by threats connected with an armed attack on Afghanistan".
