Only warning fire stoped transgressor off Northern Kurils

An unknown fishing trailer was spotted by a patrol ship off the Northern Kurils Tuesday, reports Andrey Orlov of the North-Eastern frontier guard board press-service.

Ignoring radio inquiries from the approaching frontier guards, the vessel tried to escape. "After a several-hour chase, the use of all manner of activities to stop the transgressor and finally warning it with on-board gun fire, the vessel heaved to," said Orlov.

An inspection group boarded the vessel and ascertained its affiliation. This happened as Russian federal security service exercises were underway off the Kuril islands.
