Makhachkala School Fire: Death Toll Rises To 30

The number of lives claimed by the fire at the boarding school for deaf children in the Dagestani capital Makhachkala has risen to 30.

Zikrulla Magomedbekov and Gadzhimurad Ramazanov, both 12, died in the republican children's clinical hospital during the weekend, reported the Dagestan Health Ministry. The two deaths were caused by suffocation from combustion products and burns of upper respiratory tracts.

All in all, the fire claimed the lives of 30 children.

In the meantime, 16 kids are still undergoing treatment in the hospitals of Makhachkala. One of them, Abdulkerim Akhmedov, 10, is in a very serious condition and being treated in the resuscitation unit. Twelve kids are in a "medium gravity" condition. The condition of the other 3 children is satisfactory, said a source in the health ministry.
