Over the last 24 hours, lawenforcements have killed 14 militants as carrying out operations in Chechnya, according to the Khankala provisional police press centre. Apart from that, they detained 33 persons suspected of links to militant groupings. Air reconnaissance detected a major grouping moving in the area of the Stepnoye settlement, Gudermes district. The pilots determined the coordinates and artillery fire was opened on the grouping. Ten armed terrorists were found dead on the spot afterwards. Near the city of Shali, policemen had to open fire when trying to detain two gunmen who offered an armed rebuff. The corpses of two unknown persons were found in the morning in the suburbs of the Alkhan Yurt village. The two were apparently blown up by the land mine they were implanting on the road. The police press centre reported on 33 persons detained in Grozny's Staropromyslovsky district and in several villages of Chechnya's Nozhai Yurt district neighbouring Daghestan as suspects of being involved in militant actions. As many as 6 huge caches of arms and ammunition were found in Chechnya on October 21, according to the press centre. Apart from that, lawenforcements destroyed 19 mini oil refineries and seized 6 tons of fuel and lubricants.
