Kazakhstan has been struck by earthquake, there are victims

On the night of Friday the Jambul region of Kazakhstan was struck by an earthquake with a 6-6.5 magnitude by Richter's scale.

The earthquake killed three and injured one people and destroyed two houses in one of the region's villages, Lugovoye, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported referring to the operative duty agency on Kazakh emergencies. Some of the houses in the Kulan village are on the point of collapse.

The epicentre of the earthquake is registered 150 km north-east of the administrative centre of Jambul.

The former Kazakh capital, Alma-Ata as well as a number of districts of the Alma-Ata region also experienced 3-3.5 magnitude earth tremors.

4-5 and 2.5-3 magnitude earth tremors were also registered in Bishkek /Kyrgyzstan/ and Andizhan and Tashkent /Uzbekistan/ respectively.
