A large terrorist act was prevented in the centre of Nazran /a town in Ingushetia, a North Caucasus republic within Russia/ on October 23. An explosive device equalling 1 kg of TNT was defused at the entrance to the central stadium. It was a land mine-based explosive which was to be initiated by a 100-metre-long electric wire.
